Gombe Stream National Park
MBALI MBALI GOMBE
$665 - $775
Mbali Mbali Gombe is the only lodge in Tanzania’s smallest National Park, meaning more intimate wildlife experiences. It's Mbali Mbali's most intimate lodge but offers complete privacy in one of the most remote and untouched parks in Tanzania.
The lodge is situated within Gombe Stream National Park, a thin strip of ancient montane forest bordering the second deepest lake in the world, Lake Tanganyika.
Mbali Mbali Gombe consists of seven luxury tents on wooden platforms, named after the chimpanzees who are familiar to the researchers from the Jane Goodall Institute. Each tent has an ensuite bathroom, furnished private balcony and is either 1 king size or two twin beds. There is also a dining area, just a couple of steps off the beach with an extended outside deck shaded by the forest.
Chimpanzee trekking is the main activity and is conducted in the mornings, with afternoon hikes for the especially adventurous. Guests can also hike towards the spectacular waterfalls of Kakombe, an easy thirty-minute walk, or to the slightly further Mkenke. Small primates such as olive baboons and red-tail monkeys are present within the forest whilst Fish Eagles and Palm-nut Vultures are often seen flying overhead.
The lodge also offers guests the chance to swim and snorkel at the lodge’s private beach, enjoy a boat safari or a kayaking trip.
