7 days, cost c.$1500 with free International flights compliments of Brussels Airlines. With Thousand Hills Expeditions, including gorilla trekking (permit included in price). . Whilst we can’t guarantee any specifics, we do try to visit locally competing lodges and camps, to allow you to compare and contrast.
Thursday 2nd December
KIGALI SERENA HOTEL
Arrive Kigali at 19hr50 where you will be met by a representative of Thousand Hills Expeditions and transferred to the hotel. Dinner not included
Friday 3rd December
NYUNGWE FOREST LODGE
Drive to Nyungwe via Butare and Nyanza. Overnight in Nyungwe. Breakfast, lunch and dinner included
Saturday 4th December
NYUNGWE FOREST LODGE
AM Forest Hike, PM inspect Gisakura Guest House and a new lodge if it has opened. Possibly tour a tea plantation too if time permits. Breakfast, lunch and dinner included
Sunday 5th December
LAKE KIVU SERENA HOTEL
Drive to Kibuye, lunch and inspection of Moriah Hill Resort. Continue to Kibuye for overnight at Lake Kivu Serena Hotel. Breakfast and lunch included. Dinner not included
Monday 6th December
MOUNTAIN GORILLA VIEW
This morning take a scenic drive to Gisenyi inspecting Paradis Malahide on route. Short town tour and drive to Volcanoes Virunga Lodge for inspection. Following lunch inspect Gorillas Nest, if time permits tour the twin lakes. Overnight Mountain Gorilla View Lodge. Breakfast and dinner included
Tuesday 7th December
SABINYO SILVERBACK LODGE
Gorilla tracking in the morning. In the afternoon visit an ex-poachers village. Breakfast, lunch and dinner included.
Wednesday 8th December
KIGALI SERENA HOTEL
Golden monkeys tracking in the morning. Following lunch return to Kigali. Farewell dinner in a local restaurant with representatives of Thousand Hills. Breakfast, lunch and dinner included.
Thursday 9th December
Trip ends
In the morning inspect Select Boutique hotel, Hotel des Mille Collines, Top Tower Hotel. Lunch at a local restaurant followed by a city tour including the genocide memorial site. Return to the airport for 20hr50 flight. Breakfast and lunch included.
