Zambia and Malawi Fam Trip
October 2012
8 days combining the best of South Luangwa NP in Zambia and Nkhotakota NP in Malawi. The cost is £795 including internal flights, all accommodation, ground transport and park fees.
Friday 12th October : Flight or Pioneer Lodge
Dependant upon your chosen arrival flight, either fly or overnight at Pioneer Lodge Lusaka (just 25 mins from the airport).
Satruday 13th October : Kafunta River Lodge
Fly on the 10h15 Proflight to Mfuwe. Transfer to Kafunta River Lodge in time for luch and afternoon game drive. Dinner and overnight.
Sunday 14th October :Island Bush Camp
Breakfast at 07:00 before departure to the Island Bush Camp, en-route visiting a couple of Bush Camp Company’s properties. Arrive at Island Bush Camp for late brunch. Time to relax and inspect the Camp before an afternoon walk. Dinner and overnight.
Monday 15th October :Island Bush Camp
Full day of activities including a walking safari.
Tuesday 16th October : Kafunta River Lodge
Early morning tea at 05:30 followed by a short walk. In the late morning return to Kafunta Lodge visiting Sanctuary Lodge's Chichele and Puku Ridge en route. Tea at 15:30 followed by an afternoon/night Safari. Dinner and overnight.
Wednesday 17th October : Kafunta River Lodge
Early morning tea at 05:30 followed by a morning Safari with site inspections at Nkwali, Kapani & Mfuwe Lodge. Short night Safari followed by dinner at 20:00 and overnight.
Thursday 18th October : Tongole Wilderness Lodge
Breakfast at 07:00 before 08:00 transfer to the airport for Nyassa Air flight from Mfuwe to Lilongwe at 10:15. Land at 11.15 and met by Tongole for transfer to lodge. Lunch and time to relax in the afternoon. Dinner and overnight.
Friday 19th October : Tongole Wilderness Lodge
Early continental breakfast followed by a walk along the Bua River, returning to Tongole for Lunch. Time to relax after lunch followed by a full lodge familiarisation tour. Tea in the afternoon followed by a canoe activity on the river with Sundowners, returning to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Saturday 20th October :
After an early breakfast depart for the airport (3 hours), either for homeward flight or extension onto Lakeside properties such as Nkwichi, Darnforth, Kaya Mawa and Pumalani, or other Malawi destinations (arrangement can be made either independently or via Malawi marketing Consortium. Ask us for info.
South Luangwa NP
Many will be drawn by South Luangwa NP's prolific wildlife numbers and it is widely recognised as the place for walking safaris. Here we work with the ever-popular Kafunta Lodge and its sister establishment - Island Bush Camp. For the more adventurous, Luambe NP offers true wilderness and contains just one camp - Luangwa Wilderness Lodge.
Nkhotakota WR
The Nkhotakota Wildlife Reserve is a hidden and little-known gem just a quick hop away from the shores of Lake Malawi.
