Fam trip : Rwanda, December 2012
8 days ex Kigali, cost USD $1809 / c.£1150 with Thousand Hills Expeditions, including golden monkey and gorilla trekking (permits included in price). Whilst we can’t guarantee any specifics, we do try to visit locally competing lodges and camps, to allow you to compare and contrast.
Thursday 6th December
LEMIGO HOTEL
On arrival you will be met by a representative of Thousand Hills Expeditions and transferred to the hotel. Dinner not included
Friday 7th December
NYUNGWE FOREST LODGE
Drive to Nyungwe via Butare and Nyanza. Overnight in Nyungwe. Breakfast, lunch and dinner included
Saturday 8th December
NYUNGWE FOREST LODGE
AM Chimpanzee trekking (this is tbc as sightings cannot be guaranteed). PM inspect Gisakura Guest House and Nyungwe Top View Hill Hotel. Breakfast, lunch and dinner included
Sunday 9th December
LAKE KIVU SERENA HOTEL
Drive to Kibuye, lunch at Cormoran Lodge and inspection of Moriah Hill Resort. Continue to Kibuye for overnight at Lake Kivu Serena Hotel. Breakfast and lunch included. Dinner not included.
Monday 10th December
MOUNTAIN GORILLA VIEW LODGE
This morning take a scenic drive to Gisenyi. Lunch at Paradis Malahide. Short town tour and drive to Volcanoes Virunga Lodge for inspection if possible, as well as Gorillas Nest. Overnight Mountain Gorilla View Lodge. Breakfast and dinner included.
Tuesday 11th December
SABYINYO SILVERBACK LODGE
Depart at 06:00am for gorilla tracking in the morning. Lunch at Mountain Gorilla View lodge. In the afternoon visit an ex-poachers village and travel to Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge. Breakfast, lunch and dinner included.
Wednesday 12th December
KIGALI SERENA HOTEL
Early start for Golden monkeys tracking in the morning. Lunch at Sabyinyo and then return to Kigali. Farewell dinner in a local restaurant with representatives of Thousand Hills. Breakfast, lunch and dinner included.
Thursday 13th December
Trip ends
In the morning inspect Select Boutique hotel, Hotel des Mille Collines, Top Tower Hotel, Lemigo Hotel and The Manor Hotel. Lunch at a local restaurant followed by a city tour including the genocide memorial site. Return to the airport for evening flights or other onward arrangements. Breakfast and lunch included.
