Luangwa Wilderness Lodge
Luangwa Wilderness Lodge lies in the remote Zambian wilderness of the Luambe National Park. Sandwiched between North and South Luangwa National Parks, this unique slice of untouched Africa offers visitors the thrill of viewing herds of elephant and buffalo and prides of lion. It promises enchanting sightings of leopard, hippo and many other species of antelope and bird life.
Whilst it makes for a perfect stop-over between the two more well-known parks, it increasingly justifies a trip all of its own! The lodge nestles tranquilly on the banks of the Luangwa River, idyllically situated beneath large spreading Trichelia and African Ebony trees, and well off the beaten tourist track. Staying at Luangwa Wilderness Lodges also actively contributes to Conservation Luambe's programme to define Luambe National Park.
Latest News from the lodge
During September, well-known and highly respected elephant expert, Dr Olaf Behlert (who is also the chairman of Conservation Luambe, the owners of Luangwa Wilderness Lodge) will be visiting the lodge, to oversee the latest phase of their animal monitoring programme, including capturing data on the area’s resident leopards via a collaring project. Guests staying at the lodge during this time will be able to accompany Olaf and the resident team during their vital work, which has overseen a dramatic increase animal numbers in the park. The national park is essentially still ‘under construction’ so each and every visitor can aid its development, as well as contribute financially – as the lodge contributes a percentage of its fees to conservation and community projects in the area.

Activities

Despite being relatively small Luambe Park offers a wide diversity of mammals, birds and reptiles. Besides twice-daily game drives, LWL offers individual night drives and guided walks. Luambe is especially good for leopards, civet cats and servals. A visit to the local village outside the park or a local school can be arranged.
