What started out as a minor refurb turned into a major rebuild at Kafunta. Each of their chalets now has a bigger bedroom – making them airy, light and spacious; as well as bathrooms that are almost twice the size, with double wash-basins and showers. With these improvements and with their fabulous 5 night+ price packages (applicable across Kafunta and sister property, Island Bush Camp) this makes the lodge an even more attractive option in South Luangwa than ever.
South Luangwa will need little introduction to most Africa experts, with its status as a premier park firmly established. And the same can probably be said of Kafunta River Lodge. Certainly it seems that everyone who has actually stayed at Kafunta describes it lovingly as amongst their favourites in the region. Perhaps that's due to Kafunta's delightful location - set within a riverside forest on the banks of the Luangwa River. Or maybe it's the way that guests are accommodated in individual chalets, built on raised platforms, offering delightful views and providing the highest standards in the entire valley. Then again it could be their outstanding guides or the fact that the lodge’s own waterhole sees many species of mammal and bird visit on a daily basis.
Kafunta is open 12 months of the year and provides packages tied not only with their sister operation - Island Bush Camp, but also with other properties throughout Zambia and beyond.
