Mantana Lake Mburo Camp

Lake Mburo National Park, with an area of 100 sq miles (260 sq km) lies 250 km south of Kampala. This attractive park is often used as a stop-off on the way to Bwindi, QENP andKyambura, although it is has enough to justify a visit in its own right. It consists of a series of rugged hills that overlook flat bottomed valleys, with the park centred upon picturesque Lake Mburo and four smaller lakes.

The park is the only place in Uganda where its possible to see impala and zebra and contains one of the greatest concentrations of eland.  Other species seen are buffalo, topi, waterbuck, crocodile, hippo, leopard, hyena, jackal and klipspringer.  Due to abundant water, there is a wide variety of birdlife including the rare Shoebill Stork, Narina’s trogon and Abyssinian ground hornbill.

Malachite Kingfisher - seen on Lake Mburo

Lake Mburo NP provides a perfect stop off point between Kampala and the western parks, and as such allows for an idyllic place to unwind. That said due to the presence of significant wildlife, the potential for game-viewing is very apparent. Its rare bird species are also a major draw to the Lakeside areas.
