Entim Mara Camp

Entim Mara camp

Situated in the heart of Kenya’s legendary Maasai Mara Game Reserve, Entim Mara Camp is right in the middle of the very best game-viewing areas. While many other visitors to the Mara will be staying in camps in the surrounding areas and conservancies, at Entim you don't have to drive for hours to get to the wildlife action because you are right there in the middle of it. Nor do you have to be hurried out of the Reserve before gates close at 6.30 pm: at Entim you can continue to witness the wild's most important and dramatic events, which often take place at dusk and dawn. There’s actually no obligation to go out on game drives because you can sit in camp and watch the animals passing by right in front of you.

There's never a dull moment as you watch the daily events of the wild unfold before your eyes. The spectacular views from camp, and your experiences while you enjoy our hospitality will be gently absorbed into your memory to take home with you.

News

In late 2010, Kamili led a fam-trip of international tour operators across the Masai Mara, experiencing over 20 properties. We saw many fabulous lodges and camps, yet one really stood out from the crowd – Entim Mara Camp.

“It has a fantastic location deep in the Mara Reserve, well hidden within thickets on a hill overlooking a bend on the Mara River” Mike Crossley of Simply Safaris

They say a property relies on location, location, location. Well Entim Mara ticks all the boxes. It’s located right at the very heart of the Mara Wildlife Reserve (for reference, its closest neighbour is Naibor Camp); its build actually on the river banks on a curve on the Mara River (with two magnificent migration crossing points clearly visible without even leaving the comfort of the camp) and it is particularly well hidden away into thicket and partial woodland, so that it merges naturally into its landscape.

So it doesn’t take us to tell you just how good the game-viewing is in the vicinity (assuming guests actually choose to leave camp!) but Entim Mara’s management also recognise the importance of excellent guiding, hospitality, catering and accommodation. And if there’s a bigger smile, a warmer welcome (and a firmer handshake!) in Africa than offered by Entim Mara’s GM, Charles, then let me know. That’s a man I want to meet.

Best of all, there’s Entim Mara’s rates. They’re not cheap, but they do offer exceptional value given everything that’s on offer. With rack rates from $260 (low) to $490 (peak), we think we’ve really unearthed one of Africa’s hidden gems.

Accommodation

Entim Mara bedroom

The camp is eco-friendly and small, with only seven, tastefully but differently furnished, well-equipped tents. All tents are well-placed, and en-suite with flush-toilets and hot showers. There is a cosy lounge area with a small library, separate bar and dining area, which is open-fronted allowing guests the unmatched experience of eating meals while watching the animals move to and from the river to drink and forage for their food. It is a semi-permanent camp, designed to give guests the feel that we are part of the landscape.

View of the Mara River from Entim Mara

Entim Mara Camp is superbly located on a curve of the river and during the migration period, there are two popular crossing points visible from within camp!! Game drives are done in 4-wheel-drive vehicles: Ideally these are at dawn and dusk, before and after the heat and stillness which prevails around the middle of the day when the animals (and most people) take a rest. They can arrange for you to have breakfast lunch, or dinner al fresco.
